Justiene Boughey joins the GAC!

We are delighted to welcome Justiene Boughey to the Arts Development Team in the brand new role of Office Assistant.  She has already begun to emerse herself in GAC life, attending a sub-committees’ social event on her first day!  Here is a little about Justiene, in her own words:

My name is Justiene, I’m 24 and I grew up in Guernsey.  I left the island at 18 to do an Art Foundation and went on to do a Degree in Art and Visual Culture at UWE in Bristol.  My work at Uni was varied, but I really enjoyed site specific art, work involving the audience, and anything with a sense of humour!  I returned to Guernsey in 2007 to save money for a year’s round the world trip with my partner Dan.  We travelled to Canada, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, and South Africa. The last year has been the most amazing experience; we have so many memories to cherish (and photos to organise)!  Having gotten travelling out of my system I am pleased to be back on the island amongst family and friends, and I am delighted to be starting my career with the Guernsey Arts Commission.

We will also be joined by another new member of staff in 2010, so watch this space!

Sneak preview! Lihou Winter Arts Festival – Sunday 31 January 2010

Come and share the magic and mystery of Lihou Island in this fun, freezing, family event.  Meet and work with those who Create through lantern making, dance, storytelling and more.

Anyone wishing to join the event should meet at the Prosperity Car Park at 11.15 and be ready to undertake the journey to Lihou on foot when the Causeway clears.  It will be cold and probably wet, so make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear.  We will return to Guernsey by 3.15pm.  The event is free, but is unsuitable for small children who cannot manage the 20 minute walk across the Causeway (not suitable for buggies etc).
